HELIDECK INSPECTION
AWARENESS TRAINING

HELIDECK AND HELIPORT INSPECTION, CERTIFICATION, CREW TRAINING & COMPETENCY BUILDING

OFFSHORE LANDING AREA SAFETY AND HELIDECK INSPECTION AWARENESS TRAINING

Course Scope and Objectives: It is evident that the ability to interpret the CAP 437 standards and other documentation such as ICAO Annex 14 Vol II and IOGP Guidelines is critical to the helideck auditing, inspection, permit and certification process but also to helicopter crew operating in the offshore environment, as in the final analysis the pilot-in-command, has final responsibility for ensuring that the Helicopter Landing Site or Helideck is fit for purpose – this is not viable without formal training to understand the issues and requirements that ensures a helideck is safe to operate to.

The course is primarily based on the UK CAP 437 Standard - recognised by all major oil and gas exploration companies operating offshore as well as windfarm helidecks and hoisting areas, additionally superyacht helidecks.  Subjects covered include:

Regulation, Audit and Compliance Process

Helideck Environment

Helideck Supporting Infrastructure & Equipment

Training and Competency of Helideck Crews and Support Teams

Target Audience: Personnel involved in managing the helideck and subsequent helicopter operational turnaround, should receive training in the helideck audit process in order for them to understand fully the environment they are managing.  Other persons or agencies with an interest in helideck standards (for example: National Civil Aviation Authorities, Governmental HSEQ, Offshore Oil & Gas and Windfarm Aviation, Engineering and Logistical representatives) should also consider this training as part of their continuing professional development. Additionally, helicopter crews and helicopter operator safety and operations team members who are wishing to develop a better understanding of the enviroment they are operating to and actively managing.
